Youth Experiencing Symphony (YES!) Concerts
The YES! Program is run by the Daytona Beach Symphony Society and provides free tickets and school bus transportation to the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach for students. We are opening this opportunity up to our 3rd-5th grade students as there are strict behavior expectations and VERY limited seating. I have reserved just 25 seats for MCES students and chaperones. We get just one chaperone ticket per 10 students attending.
Typically, MCES Faculty will be our only chaperones due to this limit.

2013-2014
YES! Concerts & the 62nd DBSS Season
Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 ~ Nat'l Symphony Orchestra of Estonia ~ 3:00PM
We attended our first concert on Sunday, Nov. 17th, and our 19 students were very well behaved! We enjoyed spirited musical selections, plus saw the amazing work of solo cellist, Narek Hakhnazaryan, a 23 year old who has been playing since he was about 7. He has worked very hard to become a master on his instrument - he was NOT a child prodigy. His skilll comes from many years of effort, work and practice.
Friday, January 24, 2014 ~ Donizetti's "The Elixir of Love" (opera) ~ 7:00PM
Sunday, February 9, 2014 ~ Moiseyev Siberian Dancers ~ 3:00PM

2012-2013 Season
The first concert was Saturday, November 3rd at 7:00pm and featured the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba! We heard some neat music, including Beethoven's 5th Symphony!
Our January concerts were on the 25th and 26th. We enjoyed the light opera, The Barber of Seville, on Friday night and the comic duo, Igudesman and Joo on Saturday night!! Mr. Igudesman and Mr. Joo both came out to each school bus to greet the students who attended, which was really cool! See photos below!!!
On February 15th, we heard the world reknowned Vienna Boys Choir perform! They sang classical choir pieces as well as contemporary and folk pieces! See photos below.
March 2nd featured an amazing performacnce by the Russian National Ballet Theatre of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The costumes, sets and dancing were simply gorgeous! Photos below!
On Friday, March 22nd, we enjoyed the Beethoven Orchestra of Bonn. Bonn is Beethoven's home town, so this orchestra specializes in his music.
A yellow flier explaining the YES program was sent home on Friday, Sept. 28. If you think your child is mature enough for this program, the first step is completing the YES Program Family Contract. Please contact Mrs. McCoy for a Contract.
Read the Contract carefully and discuss the expectations with your child. When you both agree to the requirements, please print & sign your name, have your child write his/her name and then return it to Mrs. McCoy ASAP because the seats will be reserved on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis. When you turn in the Contract, I will send home the necessary permission slip. A completed Contract and a completed permission slip are required for students to attend, and BOTH must be returned on time.
Once we fill our limited number of seats, I will start a waiting list in case someone cancels.
I'm looking forward to a wonderful experience with our students!
